BACKGROUND
Byron Townshend born in 1980 in Los Angeles, California in the U.S.A. English Father hailing from London and Native American mother from California. Byron grew up in the East of England in Norwich which is where he is based today! Byron is the eldest of 5 brothers.
MUSICAL BACKGROUND
Byron learnt to play the drums at an early age and the transition to playing the decks came naturally to him. Byron was a first a DJ and then turned his hand to production, which was a logical progression. Byron’s enthusiasm grew for drum and bass music and his roots from being a drummer can still be heard in his beats today.
THE RISE OF VENGEANCE
Based in the East of England Vengeance aka DJ B-RONE began mixing in 1998. After playing a few gigs at pubs & clubs, getting a much needed break on a Pirate Radio station in Norwich with MC Force. Junglists in & around the Norwich region would tune in every week to hear the latest Cutting Edge Drum & Bass. The Duos Reputation getting bookings as far as Newmarket's Club-M.
In 2004 Byron came 1st in the UK Young Musician of the East Award claiming the title of Finest D.J. in the East of England 2004 which was judged by the man himself Goldie. Winning this put Byron in the spot light and had DJing opportunities playing big Norwich nights [at the time Rumble & Bounce] at Venues such as The Waterfront and Norwich's Sports village. Winning the award also took Byron to London where he played at McMc's leaving party @ Camden palace.
After this success Byron began to concentrate on making Drum and Bass
2006 - Vengeance wins the Title of Best Drum & Bass DJ in the Battle of the DJ's comp at Bar Mission in Gt.Yarmouth and Establish's the Cutting Edge soundz website. [www.cuttingedgeuk.net]
2007 - Vengeance sets up an Event called Breakthrough, Forms Knightz of the Underground, teams up with MC DNA, Hooks up with South London Based Radio/TV Station Quantum Soundz, Gets an FM slot on London based Station React FM & Gets Signed to Deadly Records - Reading, Releasing his debut release Up Yours/No Mercy [DEAD012] on the 15th Oct.
2008 - Vengeance releases the Cybernetic Orgasms EP [DEAD014] on Deadly Recs including tracks Cyber Seduction, Bonesaw, Search 'n' Destroy & Warmachine. Releases a single on Nu Urban Artists, tracks - Zomp Stomp/Dancehall Slayer [NUA001]
2009 - See's Vengeance set up his own imprint Vengeance Recordings/Digital Vengeance and establish's the website vengeancerecordings.co.uk vengeance records first release [VENGEANCE001] features tracks Book of the Dead/Evil Dead as a sampler for the Evil Dead EP part 1 Book of the Dead [DV002] tracks on the EP include: Evil Dead, Swallow This, Possession & The Cellar. Vengeance Dubstep/Halfstep Label Deadstep is also established releasing the first 3 tracks Dead By Dawn [Deadstep001] Envy [Deadstep002] & Deadites Anthem [Deadstep003].
INFLUENCES
Byron grew up listening to Heavy Metal bands such as Iron Maiden & Metallica. Discovering Drum & Bass or Rave in his early teens listening to DJ's such as Doc Scott, Peshay & Grooverider to name a few. Key Artists in the Drum & Bass scene that have been an inspiration include artists such as Shy fx, Mampi Swift, Doc Scott, Krust, Andy C, DJ Hype, DJ Zinc, Bad Company, Dillinja & Bladerunner.
